The Registered Dietitian Specialist facilitates the nutrition care process in specialty care areas or specialized populations with a moderate degree of autonomy. This role leverages experience-based knowledge, nutrition assessment, and diagnostic reasoning skills to provide complex medical nutrition therapy. The position is designed to support individuals with specialized health conditions, utilizing advanced counseling techniques to influence behavior change and applying evidence-based research to improve patient outcomes.
Depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience, this position may be hired as either a Registered Dietitian Clinical or a Registered Dietitian Clinical Specialist. The role involves managing nutrition care across the continuum, including order writing for durable medical equipment, and mentoring newly graduated dietitians, dietetic interns, and clinical diet techs. While nutrition support experience is preferred, training is provided for candidates without prior experience in this specific area.
