About the Role
The Recreation Therapist I is an entry-level position within Santa Clara Valley Healthcare's Acute Psychiatric facility, specifically serving the Adolescent/Children Unit. In this role, you will work collaboratively with Occupational Therapy and interdisciplinary team members to implement individualized and group therapy sessions. You will evaluate recreational therapy needs for assigned patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings, developing, implementing, and documenting treatment plans and goals to meet those needs.
As an entry-level therapist, you will perform routine patient care utilizing fundamental clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills. You may also supervise students and volunteers, contributing to the growth of the next generation of therapists while managing your own assigned caseload. Your work involves planning specialized outpatient programs, facilitating community outings, and developing adaptive recreational equipment to support patient recovery and leisure functioning.
