This position is a vital member of the Energy Control Systems (ECS) Group, specifically within the Real-time Control and Data Acquisition (RCDA) team. The RCDA team holds the overall technical responsibility for ensuring the Energy Management System (EMS) accurately represents the generation, transmission, and distribution assets of OPC, GTC, and the EMCs. This precise representation empowers control room operators to economically dispatch generation, monitor facilities, control high-side protective and sectionalizing devices, and manage alarms and events. Ultimately, the team ensures the collection and presentation of accurate, reliable data in real-time to support critical grid operations.
Engineers in this role serve as the technical backbone for EMS/SCADA operations, bridging the gap between complex power system data and operational decision-making. The day-to-day work involves implementing transmission, generation, and distribution projects into the EMS system while maintaining rigorous standards for database design, communications integrity, and metering data quality.
As you progress from Engineer I to Engineer V, your scope expands from assisting with implementation and engineering reviews to leading technical analysis and serving as the primary point of contact for external interfaces. Senior engineers are expected to provide technical guidance to operating, design, and field personnel, ensuring the seamless planning and operation of EMS/SCADA systems across the organization.
Due to the critical nature and continuous operation of the Control Center, this role requires a high level of availability. Team members are subject to on-call rotations and may be contacted to resolve problems, implement workarounds, or correct issues at any time. The role also involves approximately 15% travel to support the customer base throughout the state of Georgia and to attend training or seminars.
We are committed to maintaining a diverse and inclusive workforce. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
