The Rapid Response Team at UNMH is dedicated to reducing hospital mortality and improving patient outcomes by identifying and intervening early for patients in need of higher levels of care. This 0.90 FTE Night Shift position serves as a vital patient advocate and liaison, working in conjunction with the Rapid Response Medical Director and a multidisciplinary network of teams, including the DR. Heart, Stroke Alert, DART, and Sepsis Response Teams.
In this role, you will function as a bridge between multiple departments, ensuring seamless communication and care coordination for neonates, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Your day-to-day involves responding to hospital emergencies, stabilizing patients until providers arrive, and facilitating safe transfers to or from UNMH. You will operate within the scope of practice defined by the New Mexico Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, utilizing advanced skills such as ultrasound-guided venous puncture, 12-lead EKGs, and various medication administrations to provide care ranging from Basic to Advanced Life Support.
Candidates selected for this position must complete specific credentialing requirements within designated timeframes, including CPR, UNMH basic arrhythmia, CEVO, Ultrasound-guided IV, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and PALS certifications. The role also requires a valid New Mexico Driver's License and a UNM Vehicle Operator's Permit.
