The Quality Improvement Specialist-Registered Nurse (QIS-RN) serves as a vital facilitator, advisor, and advocate within The Guthrie Clinic, dedicated to advancing quality-of-care improvements and patient safety. Reporting directly to the VP/Chief Nursing Officer, this role bridges the gap between clinical practice and administrative strategy, ensuring that the organization's nursing quality programs are effectively administered and continuously evolved.
In this position, you will act as a catalyst for change, coordinating the collection, compilation, and aggregation of data to drive actionable insights. Your day-to-day involves managing the implementation and training of new systems, mining data from existing processes, and conducting environment of care and infection prevention floor audits. You will work closely with a diverse array of departments—including Nursing, Imaging, Pharmacy, Patient Safety, and Clinical Data Informatics—to lead multi-disciplinary teams in developing and executing quality improvement projects.
At The Guthrie Clinic, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and care. This role is essential to our mission, as it ensures that our processes align with current best practices and regulatory requirements. We value a collaborative environment where professionals are empowered to identify gaps between current states and best practices, recommending and executing necessary revisions to enhance care delivery.
We foster a culture of continuous improvement, where open communication, constructive feedback, and resourcefulness are key. As a QIS-RN, you will be expected to exhibit a high degree of professionalism consistent with Guthrie values, actively participating in community engagement and working to resolve conflicts while building positive relationships with staff, patients, and partners.
Candidates selected for this role will be expected to obtain the Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) certification within three years of employment. The position may require occasional travel and active participation in community and employee engagement activities to support the organization's broader goals.
