HII creates advanced unmanned solutions for defense, marine research, and commercial applications, serving customers in more than 30 countries.
Our team of more than 7,000 professionals worldwide delivers all-domain expertise and advanced technologies in service of mission partners across the globe. As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will join a supportive and welcoming environment where hard stuff is done right. You will oversee all aspects of the Quality Management System (QMS) as it applies to our Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) programs. This role is critical for ensuring that sub-contractor Statement of Work (SOW) quality requirements are defined and met, and that quality assurance and control requirements are accounted for as early in the program lifecycle as possible.
Your day will involve conducting supplier and sub-contractor audits to ensure compliant performance, drive process standardization, and eliminate waste. You will travel to supplier locations to ensure quality requirement clarity, conduct capability or quality risk assessments, and resolve quality problems. You will also travel to other HII sites to lead quality improvement initiatives and collaborate with mission partners, both across HII and external strategic partners, to ensure a robust USV quality program.
You will champion problem-solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers and customers to eliminate the recurrence of non-conformances. By working with purchasing to ensure supplier performance is regularly reported, you will help implement appropriate and timely corrective actions. You will also develop long-term supplier relationships, generate cost reduction ideas, and strategically lead supplier performance improvement projects to increase supplier capability.
HII is more than a job—it's an opportunity to build a new future. We are a values and ethics-driven organization that puts people's safety and well-being first. Regardless of your role or where you serve, you'll find competitive benefits and valuable educational and training programs for continual career growth at every stage of your career.
