This position serves as a critical bridge between scientific research and product quality within the food, beverage, and cosmetics sectors. The role is dedicated to conducting in-depth research and analysis regarding the chemistry and microbiology of food products to drive development and continuous improvement. By evaluating how various processing, preservation, and packaging methods impact composition and properties—such as color, texture, aroma, taste, shelf life, and nutritive content—the team ensures that Sunrider's products meet the highest standards of safety and quality.
The day-to-day work involves a dynamic blend of wet chemistry and microbiological testing. You will analyze raw materials, intermediate products, and finished goods using advanced laboratory instruments like GC, ICP, and FTIR. A significant portion of the role focuses on maintaining rigorous microbiological standards, including the preparation of cultural media, serial dilutions, and the detection of pathogenic microorganisms. This work is essential for validating deviations from existing standards and making data-driven decisions to optimize product quality within equipment capabilities.
The laboratory environment is designed for precision and safety. While the noise level is typically quiet, the role involves frequent exposure to herbal powders and, occasionally, toxic or caustic chemicals used in wet chemistry and microbiological testing. Strict adherence to safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) are paramount to managing these environmental factors. The physical nature of the job includes frequent sitting, handling of samples, and occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds, alongside specific visual requirements for close-up work and color differentiation.
