Tufts Medicine is a mission-driven academic medical center dedicated to protecting patients, visitors, and staff in a fast-paced healthcare environment. As part of the Safety, Security & Law Enforcement team, we are committed to fostering a culture of safety, compassion, and respect. Our team works collaboratively with clinical, facilities, and leadership groups to ensure a secure, welcoming environment that reflects our core values of equity and innovation in healthcare.
This Public Safety Officer position is designed for a professional who thrives in a dynamic medical setting. You will serve as the frontline guardian of our facilities, conducting patrols across hospital buildings, grounds, and parking areas to deter and detect safety hazards. Your role extends beyond standard security; you will respond promptly to emergencies, alarms, and calls for assistance involving patients and staff, often requiring you to manage access control and support de-escalation in emotionally charged situations.
A day in the life involves close collaboration with clinical teams to support high-risk scenarios, participating in emergency preparedness drills, and maintaining detailed documentation of incidents. You will be instrumental in preserving evidence, managing valuables, and assisting with patient escorts, all while upholding the highest standards of patient-centered care and privacy regulations.
Candidates selected for an interview will be contacted directly by the recruitment team to schedule a conversation regarding qualifications and availability. Please ensure your application includes all relevant certifications and licensing documentation.
Tufts Medicine is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, or veteran status.
