This position serves as an Adjunct Instructor, focusing primarily on delivering instruction and maintaining a productive classroom environment. The role is designed to support student success through direct engagement, rigorous academic standards, and adherence to institutional policies.
Instructors are expected to arrive at the University 20 minutes prior to the start of each class session, fully prepared to teach. A key component of the role involves being available to students 15 minutes before class begins to address questions and provide advising. During sessions, instructors must conduct classes according to the scheduled times, ensuring no excessive breaks occur and classes are not dismissed early.
Beyond the classroom, the role requires active student maintenance. This includes maintaining accurate daily and weekly attendance records, making phone calls to absent students, and preventing "do not admit" students from entering until they are cleared. Instructors will also review and administer pre- and post-testing, as well as required surveys and assessments for all appropriate courses.
Academic administration is a significant part of the daily workflow. Instructors must maintain formal, neat, and organized course syllabi, ensure physical student records of attendance and grades remain on campus in designated areas, and submit grades no later than Monday at 5 PM EST following the end of each term. Additionally, instructors are responsible for notifying the registrar of any roster changes and maintaining a clean and orderly classroom environment.
Instructors are required to attend weekly feedback meetings with an assigned EU administrator, such as the Dean of Academic Affairs, Academic Advisor, or Program Director, to review student and classroom issues. To ensure the quality of instruction, instructors must maintain current and accurate information related to the subjects they teach and complete annual professional development plans. Tutoring students as necessary and motivating them to address academic issues and attendance is also a core expectation.
Candidates must possess a Master's Degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Political Science, or an equivalent field with applicable experience, certifications, or licenses. A PhD in similar disciplines is preferred. Applicants should have at least 2+ years of experience in Public Policy and Government Affairs.
All candidates are expected to abide by State, Federal, and University laws and rules pertaining to safety, health, and conduct. Instructors must adhere to all University policies, rules, and regulations, ensuring a fair and compliant learning environment for all students.
