This position serves as a vital link between clinical nursing and community public health within the Navajo Nation. The role exists to proactively identify, investigate, and address community health problems and hazards through data-driven analysis and direct patient care. You will function as a Public Health Nurse II, bridging the gap between individual patient needs and broader population health trends.
In this role, you will lead interdisciplinary teams and collaborate with tribal, state, county, and federal agencies to plan and execute health-related activities. Your day-to-day involves conducting epidemiological surveys, field investigations, and community assessments to appraise health needs. You will design interventions to mobilize resources, develop policies to support health efforts, and provide comprehensive nursing services in diverse settings including homes, schools, and outreach clinics.
Beyond clinical duties, you will mentor and supervise Public Health Nurses I, ensuring the team adheres to best practices and CMS standards. A key part of your mission is building community capacity by engaging members in designing sustainable, health-promoting programs and educating individuals and families on preventative and curative health matters.
