About the Role
Under the direction of the Nutrition Services Manager, the Cook plays a vital role in food production for patients, cafeteria services, and catering events. This position is designed to support the daily nutritional needs of our patients while ensuring the smooth operation of the dietary department.
The role involves a variety of daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning duties and requires flexibility to work varying schedules, including weekdays and weekends. A key aspect of this position is cross-training within the Dietary department to provide coverage during staffing shortages. This may involve direct patient nutrition services, such as planning daily menus, identifying food allergies, and respecting cultural or religious dietary practices.
Beyond food preparation, the Cook contributes to quality improvement and control activities, conducts quarterly inventories, and maintains a clean, organized work area in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulatory guidelines.
