The Healthcare Security Professional is a hands-on position where exceptional customer service is the top priority. This role ensures the safety and security of patients, staff, and visitors across multiple healthcare facilities associated with the University of Utah, including the University Medical Center, Huntsman Cancer Institute, Huntsman Mental Health Institute, and several regional health centers.
Team members work under the direction of the Chief Safety Officer in a dynamic 24/7 environment. Depending on the location, employees may work 10-hour or 13-hour shifts, offering a schedule that provides ample days off and promotes a healthy work-life balance. The role encompasses responsibilities in various areas, including a Level 1 trauma center setting, and provides opportunities to work in uniformed operations, patrol, dispatch, investigations, training, and risk assessment.
Employees receive specialized training to work effectively with patients and address healthcare security's unique challenges. We prioritize professional development, mentoring, and coaching, with a strong focus on promoting internal candidates within the organization.
