About the Role
You will join a close-knit finance team where your expertise directly contributes to project success and operational efficiency. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong construction accounting experience who can balance project accounting responsibilities with general accounting functions.
You will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close activities, and ensuring efficient financial processes while partnering closely with Project Managers to help keep projects on budget and on schedule. From project initiation through close-out, you will manage financial administration, review contracts for revenue recognition compliance, and monitor labor and expense charges. Your work will ensure that budgets, forecasts, and actual costs are tracked accurately across multiple projects, while you also handle critical reporting, billing, and compliance documentation.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleCollaborate with Project Managers to manage financial administration from project initiation through close-out
- check_circleSet up and maintain project records within the accounting system and review contracts for revenue recognition compliance
- check_circlePrepare draft and final invoices and compile required documentation including client waivers and sworn statements
- check_circlePartner with Project Managers to review and process change orders and maintain knowledge of lien processes
- check_circleReview weekly project status reports and obtain job estimates, projections, and change orders as needed
- check_circleParticipate in monthly project review meetings to provide financial insight and create ad hoc reporting for leadership
- check_circleMonitor AR aging and work with Project Managers and clients to resolve outstanding balances
- check_circlePrepare and maintain monthly general ledger reconciliations and closing documentation
- check_circleReview, code, and process vendor and subcontractor invoices to ensure timely payments and accurate AP records
- check_circleSupport the Controller and finance team with additional accounting and administrative tasks as needed
- check_circleTrack budgets, forecasts, and actual costs across multiple projects while participating in monthly billing processes
- check_circleMaintain subcontractor files, review agreements, and initiate payments based on contract terms
Requirements
- verifiedBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- verified3+ years of accounting experience within the construction industry
- verifiedStrong knowledge of construction contracts, AIA billing, and job costing
- verifiedExperience with accounting software such as Sage, Spectrum/Viewpoint, Crystal Reports, or similar platforms
- verifiedAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs
