Central Environmental, Inc. (CEI) is an SBA-certified Small Disadvantaged Business founded in 1984. Since our inception, we have grown into a full-service construction and environmental remediation provider with operations in Anchorage, Colorado Springs, Fairbanks, and Las Vegas, executing projects across the U.S. and globally. We specialize in general contracting, civil site work, underground utilities installation, and environmental and demolition services.
As a Project Manager/Project Engineer based in Fairbanks, AK, you will serve as a pivotal leader in our construction operations. This role exists to ensure the successful delivery of complex engineering and construction projects through rigorous management of resources, costs, and quality. You will bridge the gap between field execution and administrative oversight, directing the sequencing of work and managing project costs while ensuring strict compliance with approved plans and specifications.
Your day will likely begin early with site walk-throughs to assess progress and identify safety hazards, followed by a shift to administrative duties in the afternoon. You will be responsible for negotiating with subcontractors, managing contract administration (including RFIs, submittals, and change orders), and preparing detailed reports on daily activities, delays, and corrective actions. This position requires constant situational awareness and the ability to navigate active construction sites, often in extreme temperatures and varying weather conditions.
Applicants will be notified via phone or email within ten (10) business days of submittal. As a condition of employment, all candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screening and a background check. Depending on the specific contract requirements, you may also be required to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance levels to access military installations.
