Founded in 2003, Giles Flythe Engineers specializes in evaluating buildings and site improvements for property owners and community associations. Our team brings together diverse expertise in environmental, structural, site civil, land development, stormwater, mechanical engineering, and building envelope evaluations. We embrace a decentralized leadership structure that empowers autonomous team members to make decisions, fostering a highly collaborative culture where we readily draw from the collective experience of our staff.
We work with thousands of properties annually, ranging from commercial real estate and high-rise condominiums to townhome communities and single-family residences. Our clients include commercial investors, homeowners, community associations, general contractors, and architects.
We are seeking a Professional Engineer to join our North Carolina or Virginia offices, focusing on non-traditional civil engineering projects within the community association and commercial sectors. This role is designed for those looking to expand their skills beyond traditional civil engineering by engaging in capital reserve planning, construction administration, and property condition assessments.
You will serve as a key liaison between the firm and condominium, multi-family, and single-family community association managers and boards of directors. Your day-to-day will involve performing on-site field investigations to evaluate buildings and site improvements, developing comprehensive 30-year capital reserve plans, and leading client meetings to finalize reserve studies. You will also have the opportunity to mentor Engineering Interns and grow within a team-oriented environment while handling commercial due diligence inspections, including PCA's and Phase 1 Environmental Assessments.
This position requires effective communication with a wide range of stakeholders, including homeowners, contractors, and architects, as well as routine travel to project locations within the region. The role involves hands-on project involvement and the physical ability to perform inspections on ladders and roofs as needed.
Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time. For more information about our services and the specific projects you may encounter, please visit www.gfengineers.com.
