Connecting Continents. Impacting Communities.
The backbone of the Internet is a series of high-tech subsea fiber optic cables deployed throughout the globe. SubCom has deployed over 50% of them. Our employees ensure data communications networks are engineered, manufactured, and deployed to the highest standards, enabling faster and more reliable connectivity to communities worldwide. Every member of the SubCom team plays a role in an end-to-end process that is critical to enterprises, governments, big cities, and rural towns.
While the company's origins date back to the mid-19th century, SubCom has deployed enough cable to circle the equator more than 25 times since its entry into the communications industry in 1955. We offer flexible end-to-end building blocks for the high-tech networks that are the backbone of the world's digital infrastructure.
We encourage, expect, and value creativity, thoughtful risk-taking, openness to change, and diverse perspectives. Whether you're a seasoned applicant seeking a new and exciting challenge, or you're new to the workforce and looking for a flexible, rewarding, and fast-paced position with an innovative and stable organization, SubCom has opportunities to advance your career.
The Project Manager is responsible for delivering large-scale undersea telecommunication projects at margins meeting or exceeding original budgets. Projects are run like a P/L center with the objective of increasing margin through project savings, upselling, and/or contract variations. You will set project strategies in alignment with company goals and manage projects through implementation, including engineering, production, installation, and testing.
In this role, you will lead and work with a matrix-style project team across all functions and levels of the organization. You will serve as the main point of contact with the customer for all negotiations, decision-making, scheduling issues, and problem-solving throughout the program. Your day-to-day involves monitoring and reporting performance against plans to ensure that contractual, cost, and schedule objectives are met, while arranging modifications as required.
You must be able to deal with ambiguity and react to the execution of both new plans and changes that minimize company risk. This position requires resolving problems both internally and with the customer, identifying risks, and ensuring all team members are aware of the project strategy, objectives, risks, and mitigations.
Candidates for positions with SubCom must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Employment eligibility verification will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
