Vistra is a global leader in power generation, committed to exceeding customer expectations through great people, teamwork, competitive spirit, and effective communication. As part of the Luminant Generation Company LLC, our team ensures the reliability and efficiency of our fossil generation fleet, driving operational excellence and commercial capability across the industry.
This position serves as a pivotal engineering resource for initiating, developing, managing, and executing capital and major maintenance projects across Vistra’s fossil generation fleet. You will provide technically sound support for irregular capital projects and standardized fleet-wide scopes, with a focus on mechanical rotating equipment, plant control systems, and heavy-duty steam valves. The role requires owning projects from initial identification and justification through execution and closeout, ensuring alignment with the Project Life Cycle Procedure, Long-Range Plan (LRP) processes, and applicable fleet standards.
Your work will involve developing project scopes, conceptual designs, cost estimates, and risk evaluations to support fleet-significant initiatives such as gas turbine conversions, plant control system upgrades, and winterization projects. You will coordinate with internal stakeholders—including plant personnel, operations, maintenance, and supply chain—as well as external engineering firms, contractors, and OEMs. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to preparing bid packages, maintaining standardized playbooks for recurring work, and communicating project status, risks, and technical decisions to ensure safety, operability, and financial return. This role requires up to 50% travel to support site visits, outage planning, and field execution.
If you are ready to start a promising career with a global leader, please apply online. If you currently work for Vistra or its subsidiaries, please apply via the internal career site.
