Project Controller

About the Role

The Project Controller is a newly created position designed to improve the organization's bottom line by analyzing project-related data to identify and address deviations, risks, and variances. This role is critical for enhancing forecasting accuracy and ensuring that project profitability aligns with broader financial objectives.\n Reporting directly to the Finance Director at our Headquarters in Belgium, the Project Controller serves as a vital liaison between Finance and Project Management. The role involves close collaboration with the Finance Manager of Movu US, local Project Management teams, and various stakeholders to ensure financial integrity across all projects.

Day in the Life

In this role, you will translate complex financial data into operationally valuable insights. Your day involves preparing, evaluating, and updating project forecasts, including cash flow, while assessing accruals and actual costs incurred. You will calculate work in progress (WIP) and continuously monitor project performance against established KPIs.

You will act as a proactive partner to Project Management, collaborating to prepare and monitor budgets, ensuring their accuracy, and following up on any inconsistencies between actual expenses and budgeted figures. A key part of your function is to control month-end closing, verify inconsistencies, and follow up on monthly provisions for costs and revenue.

Beyond analysis, you will ensure compliance with company standards, financial policies, and procedures, including revenue recognition and financial setup rules. You will also review tax implications related to projects and serve as a key user in implementing the new IT landscape. Ultimately, you will provide timely and accurate responses to stakeholders, support internal and external audits, and propose improvements for business operations.
