The Program Specialist AmeriCorps- Sports and Games is a seasonal position dedicated to developing and implementing the Sports and Games Program during the summer camp season. This role is integral to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee's mission, providing a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment for youth ages 7-14.
As an AmeriCorps member, you will serve as a positive role model, guiding campers through experiential education activities that foster outdoor living skills and environmental awareness. You will manage a variety of high-risk program areas, including the pool, waterfront, and archery range, ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants while utilizing specialized equipment and natural resources.
This position is a term of National Service. Members agree to support Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee programming in exchange for a fixed-amount living allowance and, upon successful completion of the term, eligibility for a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award. The role takes place in a camp setting from June 8 to August 21, with youth programming occurring Monday through Friday. The environment involves daily exposure to the sun, heat, and wildlife, including insects, snakes, and bats. Members are expected to live on-site and serve irregular hours with limited or simple equipment and facilities.
