Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee provides a safe, supportive environment where young people can thrive. Through our AmeriCorps program, we invite dedicated individuals to join our mission of empowering youth through meaningful service and community engagement.
As a Program Specialist – Arts and Crafts, you will serve as a seasonal AmeriCorps member at Camp Whitcomb/Mason. Your primary focus is developing and implementing a vibrant Arts and Crafts program that utilizes a variety of materials to engage youth across a range of skill levels. This role is designed for those passionate about experiential education and environmental learning.
You will act as a positive role model, fostering a safe and inclusive atmosphere while supervising youth in high-risk areas such as the pool, waterfront, and archery range. Your day-to-day involves facilitating programs with a natural progression for learning outdoor living skills, ensuring all activities are developmentally appropriate for children ages 7-14. Beyond the arts center, you will be an integral part of the camp community, sitting with youth during meals, maintaining a clean and orderly environment, and assisting with camp setup and teardown.
This is a National Service position. Members agree to complete a fixed term of service supporting Boys & Girls Clubs programming. In return, you will receive a set living allowance and, upon successful completion of your term, become eligible for a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award. Compensation details, including specific allowance and award amounts, are non-negotiable and vary based on the term of service. For full information, please visit www.bgcmilwaukee.com/AmeriCorps.
Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. and must provide proof of citizenship as required by AmeriCorps. All candidates must pass background check requirements, including fingerprint screening. This seasonal position runs from June 8 to August 21, with youth programming taking place Monday through Friday.
