This position serves as the Design Manager for the Space Based Interceptor (SBI) program, focusing on top Space Vehicle mechanical integration. You will lead a team of approximately 10 mechanical engineers to develop flight configurations, detail engineering releases, and support production operations. The role is heavily involved in meeting technical challenges while supporting the overall program schedule.
In this capacity, you will partner with the SBI Program Office to maintain a clear understanding of the mission purpose and develop strategies to enable high-performance execution. You will drive design closure to meet program needs, coordinate with key teams including production, systems, and the PMO to mitigate issues, and facilitate conversations across adjacent functions. The role requires navigating complex technical requirements for demonstration flights to enable risk-reducing design choices as configurations evolve.
