As a long-standing leader in graduate legal education, our dedication to offering a diverse curriculum, flexible programming, and personal attention to each student has attracted attorneys, judges, and recent law school graduates from the United States and around the globe to join our Master of Laws (LLM), Master of Science in Legal Studies (MSLS), and Paralegal programs.
The University of San Diego is an engaged and contemporary Catholic institution founded in 1949. Governed by an independent board of trustees since 1972, USD remains committed to a liberal arts education grounded in the Catholic intellectual tradition and the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty. Inspired by this centuries-old tradition, the University welcomes people of all faith traditions and any, or no, religious background. The future success of USD relies on the contributions of those who seek to foster the development of engaged global citizens and an earnest confrontation of humanity's urgent challenges.
The Tax Law Program is a multi-faceted, comprehensive program serving both Juris Doctorate (J.D.) and Master in Taxation (Tax LL.M.) students. Since its establishment in 1978, over one thousand LL.M. degrees have been awarded to tax attorneys across the globe. The program offers a wide array of doctrinal tax classes and clinical tax offerings among the largest in the country, preparing both J.D. and LL.M. students to enter practice while providing J.D. students with the foundation to pursue an LL.M. An online Tax LLM program will be launched in the fall semester of 2025.
As the Professor of Practice and Director of Graduate Tax Programs, you will teach and operate this dynamic program. You will serve as a mentor to J.D. and Tax LLM students, guiding them toward successful careers and assisting them in identifying job opportunities. Your role involves engaging with Tax LLM alumni to strengthen networks, facilitating networking events such as panels and guest speakers, and negotiating favorable enrollment fees for students attending local tax conferences. You will also recruit and mentor new adjunct tax faculty members and oversee the development of asynchronous tax courses.
