This position serves as a vital link in our daily operations, ensuring the seamless flow of materials and the safety of our team. As a Lead, you will be responsible for running and maintaining day-to-day yard activities, requiring a flexible approach to a dynamic work environment. You will operate heavy equipment of various sizes and weights, including loaders, cranes, and forklifts, while performing daily material testing to ensure quality standards are met.
Safety is the cornerstone of our culture and the most important part of all jobs within Nucor. In this role, you will initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, and housekeeping standards at all times. You will be responsible for reporting any unsafe acts or safety deficiencies to the Supervisor and Facility Manager, ensuring full compliance across the team.
Beyond technical operations, you will act as a professional communicator with all employees. This includes maintaining confidentiality when working with yard personnel and administering breaks and lunches to ensure production goals are met without interruption. You will also manage equipment operations from start-up to shut-down and maintain an organized inventory of parts.
