As a Product Design Engineer, you will serve as a critical bridge between engineering innovation and manufacturing reality for our military product line. Your journey will span the entire Product Life Cycle, from New Product Introduction (NPI) through to mature sustainment. Reporting directly to the Manager of Product Development, you will provide essential engineering support to complex programs while acting as a technical authority for Assembly and Test personnel.
This role is unique in its operational scope: you will be based daily at our Matamoros manufacturing facility. Success in this position requires a commitment to cross the border daily to perform your duties on-site, ensuring seamless collaboration with the teams that bring our products to life. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to support operations, and in certain instances, you will take a leadership role for special projects.
Your primary mission is to ensure that highly functional, profitable products meet rigorous user needs and industry standards. You will represent the voice of the end consumer throughout the development process, ensuring that high standards of reliability, quality, and usability are adhered to at every phase. By collaborating with staff across design, research, development, marketing, and manufacturing, you will help create solutions that are not only user-friendly but also cost-effective and environmentally responsible.
In this role, you will immerse yourself in the full product development lifecycle. You will assess design briefs to gauge requirements, conduct research on user experience and market trends, and develop innovative solutions to complex user problems. Using computer-aided design (CAD) tools, you will create multiple iterations of prototypes, conducting rigorous usability tests and modifying designs based on data-driven results.
You will document the design process, present progress reports to stakeholders, and partner with marketing and engineering teams to bring product visions to life with prototypes and mocks. A key part of your day involves collecting and analyzing data to adjust development plans, ensuring successful new product rollouts. You will also ensure that various stages of product development are completed on time by leading and organizing updates from cross-functional teams.
We are looking for candidates who are ready to hit the ground running in a dynamic manufacturing environment. The interview process will focus on your technical expertise in electronics and design, your ability to solve complex problems, and your fit within our cross-functional teams. We value candidates who demonstrate a passion for creating useful, innovative products and have a proven track record of identifying business problems and crafting creative solutions.
We are an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE) committed to building a diverse workforce. We consider qualified applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic. Join a team where your technical skills and leadership potential are valued, and where you play a direct role in the success of critical military product lines.
