As a Product Design Engineer, you will serve as a critical bridge between design innovation and manufacturing reality for our military product line. You will guide products from the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase through to mature sustainment, ensuring that complex programs meet rigorous performance and reliability standards.
Reporting directly to the Manager of Product Development, your mission is to provide technical leadership that empowers Assembly and Test personnel. You will not only design solutions but also translate complex design requirements into actionable guidance for the teams building the product. This role demands a deep understanding of the entire product lifecycle, from initial concept and user research to final production and market rollout.
Your work will be highly collaborative, requiring you to partner with staff across research and development, marketing, and manufacturing to create profitable, user-centric products. You will spend significant time assessing design briefs, conducting market research, and developing iterative prototypes using CAD tools. A key part of your day involves rigorous usability testing and evaluating designs against industry standards and regulations.
Beyond the design floor, you will act as the voice of the end consumer, ensuring that reliability, quality, and usability remain paramount throughout development. You will lead special projects when necessary, organizing cross-functional teams to keep development on schedule and analyzing data to adjust plans for successful new product rollouts.
Important: This role is based at our Matamoros manufacturing facility. Candidates must be prepared to cross the border daily to perform job duties on-site.
