The Procurement Manager serves as a key architect in the evolution of Reed Smith's global vendor management function. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Vendor Management, this role is designed to oversee the entire lifecycle of vendor relationships, from strategic sourcing and contract negotiation to risk assessment and performance monitoring. The position exists to ensure that the firm's vendor management standards are not only met but continuously refined to support the organization's broader priorities.
In this capacity, you will act as a strategic partner to the leadership team, navigating complex cultural dynamics between firm leaders, business services stakeholders, and outsourced providers. The role demands a balance of independent judgment and collaborative engagement, requiring you to maintain strong internal and external relationships while driving the implementation of policies that align with the firm's contractual commitments and expectations.
Your work will center on executing vendor management strategies that directly impact the firm's operational and financial health. You will engage in high-level contract review and negotiation, developing policies that reflect the firm's agreements while managing significant procurement initiatives. A core part of your day involves analyzing spend data to respond to inquiries, identifying potential roadblocks, and recommending corrective actions to optimize vendor performance.
Beyond the technical aspects of procurement, you will serve as a communicator and educator, rolling out new policies to key stakeholders and assisting with billing and payment issues. The role requires adaptability in a fast-paced environment where you must handle diverse work problems, manage multiple priorities, and make sound judgments with minimal supervision. You will also be responsible for fostering productive relationships with strategic procurement partners and top-spend vendors, ensuring that the firm's needs are met with superior quality and accuracy.
Qualified candidates only. Please note that no search firms are permitted to submit resumes for this position. The interview process will be discussed further with your direct supervisor upon selection.
