The Energetics and Propulsion Department, part of the Hardware Engineering Directorate, is responsible for the full spectrum of warhead, fuzing, and propulsion designs and technologies. This includes power systems, ignition, and all weapon initiation safety systems. We are seeking a Principal Engineer - One Shots to join our team in Tucson, AZ.
In this role, you will apply and develop advanced one-shot device technologies using scientific principles to create tangible products. You will serve as the day-to-day liaison for programs, ensuring two-way communication regarding resource technical assignments. Your work will involve providing technical oversight to subcontractors, managing suppliers to deliver subsystem components on schedule and budget, and supporting failure analysis through redesign. You will also contribute to technology development roadmaps, support proposals, and present design models and test results to internal and customer review meetings.
This position is onsite in Tucson, AZ. The role requires a willingness to travel to suppliers and government facilities, including international travel, to provide supplier support and oversee contract negotiations.
Candidates for this position must possess an active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance (DoD Secret) on their first day of employment. U.S. citizenship is a mandatory requirement, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for this level of security clearance.

Ten (10) or more years of directly related experience in propulsive technology and its application to solid or liquid, and/or mono propellant propulsion systems. Systems knowledge to assure full development of propulsion requirements and dissemination and flow down to subcomponent levels. Project engineering skills and experience using Earned Value Management System. Demonstrated success as a proposal/cost account manager as well as project/team leader. Demonstrated ability to develop and lead collaborative efforts with other technical disciplines including structural, thermal, aerodynamics and low observables. Willingness to travel, including internationally, to provide supplier support. Supplier collaboration experience and oversight generating specifications and statements of work (SOW). Working knowledge or experience with either missile design or development, production support and integration. Experience with DoD customers and/or associated contractor executives and technical leadership.
