About the Role

We are seeking a Press Assistant for the Port Authority's Office of Media Relations. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Media Relations, this entry-level role is essential to the day-to-day functioning of the team and offers a unique opportunity to build a career in press, media relations, and communications. The position is based at 4 World Trade Center in Manhattan.

As a member of the Media Relations team, you will operate in a dynamic environment where breaking news events dictate daily priorities. This role requires flexibility, as on-site, on-call, evening, and weekend work may be necessary. While you will be a self-starter, you will also coordinate closely with staff at various levels across the agency to manage media requests, staff events, and administrative duties.

Founded in 1921, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey builds, operates, and maintains some of the most critical transportation and trade infrastructure assets in the country. The agency's network of aviation, ground, rail, and seaport facilities is among the busiest globally, supporting over 550,000 regional jobs and generating more than $23 billion in annual wages and $80 billion in annual economic activity. The Port Authority also owns and manages the 16-acre World Trade Center site, home to One World Trade Center, the tallest skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere.

Hiring Process

The selection process typically includes an initial phone interview for qualified candidates, followed by in-depth interviews and/or assessments. Selected candidates receiving a conditional job offer will be required to undergo a background check.

Requirements
