The District Energy System (DES) Manager plays a critical role in maintaining the safety, reliability, and operational readiness of the campus energy systems. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Engineering and Operations, this position is responsible for the daily operation, supervision, and maintenance of the University's district energy systems, including chilled water and steam production.
You will oversee central plant equipment, managing over 22,000 tons of chiller capacity and more than 5,000 boiler horsepower. Your day-to-day involves coordinating routine and corrective maintenance, monitoring plant performance, and ensuring safety standards are maintained while supporting energy efficiency goals. This role requires direct supervision of plant personnel, contractors, and vendors, as well as supporting training efforts to ensure safe and efficient operations.
