The Plant-Soil Microbiome Ecology and Innovation Lab, led by Dr. Zelalem Taye at the University of British Columbia, is dedicated to advancing applied soil biodiversity knowledge. Soil biodiversity is critical to ecosystem productivity, resilience, and land stewardship, yet it remains underrepresented in land-use and conservation decision-making. This project aims to bridge that gap by mapping soil microbial biodiversity across forest and agricultural ecosystems in British Columbia.
The position is based in the Applied Biology Program within the Faculty of Land and Food Systems at the UBC Vancouver Point Grey campus. It offers a collaborative environment where researchers work alongside land stewards, community partners, and academic peers to generate robust soil microbiome data and support protocol harmonization.
