CAIR San Francisco Bay Area is dedicated to advocating and promoting policy solutions that impact Muslims and the broader American public. Our mission centers on fostering just and inclusive policies through active engagement with local and federal government agencies. We strive to protect civil rights, combat Islamophobia, and empower communities through strategic advocacy and coalition building.
As a Policy Coordinator, you will serve as a vital bridge between our community and policymakers. This role exists to translate community needs into actionable policy strategies, ensuring that the voices of Muslims and marginalized groups are heard in the halls of power. You will work closely with the Executive Director to drive our legislative agenda, focusing on civil rights, immigration, and anti-racist initiatives.
In this position, you will spend your days conducting deep-dive legislative research, drafting policy briefs, and engaging directly with elected officials. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to collaborating with our civil rights and community organizing teams to gather testimonials and data on incidents of Islamophobia. You will also co-lead election work, including voter registration, candidate forums, and town hall events. Beyond the office, you will frequently attend community and outreach events, such as protests and vigils, to raise awareness and mobilize support for our causes.
Based in our Santa Clara office, this is a full-time, non-exempt role operating on a hybrid schedule. You will be required to be in the office a minimum of three days per week, with flexibility for up to two days of remote work. Please note that occasional evenings and weekends are required to meet community and outreach needs.
