As a Certified Police Officer for the district, you serve as the primary guardian of our campus communities. Your mission is to protect students, personnel, and visitors from physical harm while preventing property loss through theft or vandalism. You will enforce municipal, county, and state laws, working independently to maintain a safe and secure environment for learning.
This role requires a unique blend of law enforcement expertise and community engagement. You will patrol assigned campuses and routes, respond to crisis situations, and investigate criminal offenses. Beyond enforcement, you will act as a consultant to other agencies, provide traffic control at school events, and collaborate with the Transportation Department to ensure student safety. You will also have the opportunity to educate the school community through presentations on safety and security, fostering positive public relations and crime prevention initiatives.
Candidates must possess a valid Texas Peace Officer License issued by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) and a valid Texas Driver's License. The selection process includes a thorough background check, and all finalists must successfully pass required physical, psychiatric, and drug tests. Additionally, candidates must be bondable as required by Texas Education Code §37.081(h).
