The Police Communications Lead serves as an advanced professional role within the Police Communications Center, functioning as a subject matter expert and operational leader. This position performs the full scope of dispatcher duties while exercising a high level of discretion, analytical skill, and operational expertise in complex and high-risk public safety situations. As a lead dispatcher, you will provide guidance, mentoring, and professional support to dispatch staff without formal supervisory authority, ensuring operational continuity, training, quality assurance, and process improvement.
You will exercise independent judgment in managing sensitive or high-priority incidents, acting as a liaison between dispatch staff and management. This role is designated as essential; you may be required to stay late, come in early, or respond to emergencies as needed. Participation in a rotating on-call schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is required.
Priority will be given to applications submitted by May 20, 2026. Potential interview dates are scheduled for May 25–29, 2026, with a tentative start date of July 1, 2026. Associates or bachelor's degree in criminal justice, communications, or a related field. Experience with CJIS, CAD, NCIC, and CCIC systems. Current Communications Training Officer (CTO) certification. Advanced certifications in emergency communications or public safety disciplines. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish.
