Gundersen Health System is seeking a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) physician for a hybrid inpatient and outpatient role. This position focuses primarily on neurological rehabilitation, with opportunities to incorporate musculoskeletal care within the outpatient practice.
The PM&R Department operates within the Neuroscience Center, collaborating closely with Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Pain Medicine. The department is a multidisciplinary team comprising PM&R physicians, neuropsychologists, and chiropractors. The team currently includes four musculoskeletal PM&R physicians, three neurorehabilitation PM&R physicians (with a fourth opening), one pediatric PM&R physician, four inpatient APCs, three outpatient/MSK APCs, five neuropsychologists, and three chiropractors.
The inpatient practice features a recently remodeled 20-bed unit managed by the neurorehabilitation physicians and APCs. Call coverage, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is managed by APCs with excellent hospitalist support for medically complex patients. The outpatient practice focuses on neurological rehabilitation for conditions such as CVA, SCI, TBI, MS, and concussions, including spasticity management via Botox and intrathecal baclofen pump management. While musculoskeletal care is a reduced focus, it remains available, and there is potential for EMG procedures.
