Reporting to the Downtown O&M Manager, the Plant Maintenance Tech IV is the cornerstone of our district cooling operations in downtown Phoenix. This role exists to ensure the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of our critical thermal infrastructure, including plant chillers, distribution systems, and auxiliary equipment. You will serve as a key technical resource, extending your support to our Tempe cogeneration facility and various remote plant locations.
In this position, you will bridge the gap between daily operational needs and long-term strategic maintenance. Your day involves interpreting complex technical manuals and equipment history to develop precise work plans, coordinating with contractors and consultants on major projects, and managing the inventory of spare parts. You will lead problem-solving analyses to improve O&M processes, ensuring that every task—from routine maintenance to emergency callouts—is executed with a focus on safety, environmental compliance, and operational excellence.
Safety is the foundation of our operations. As a Tech IV, you are responsible for ensuring full compliance with all safety policies and environmental regulations, with a specific goal of zero exceedances, reportable spills, or violations. You will lead pre-job briefs for critical activities and maintain a culture of high integrity and enthusiasm. We value team players who can adapt quickly to a fast-paced environment, communicate openly about equipment conditions, and champion change processes to drive continuous improvement.
Candidates must possess a High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of five years of steady experience working with chilled water equipment and water pumps. A valid EPA section 609 universal refrigeration certificate is required, or the ability to obtain one immediately. Please note that this role requires flexibility to respond to emergency callouts 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, and the physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
