As a Physician in Internal Medicine at Joint Base San Antonio, you will serve as a primary care provider for adult patients with both acute and chronic conditions. This role is critical to the health of the military community, offering the opportunity to manage a full range of primary care cases, from congestive heart failure and diabetes to hypertension and thyroid disorders.
You will exercise independent judgment in the medical treatment and management of patients within the Internal Medicine Clinic (IMC). Your day-to-day responsibilities include examining patients, performing physicals, ordering tests, making definitive diagnoses, and prescribing treatment. You will also serve as an inpatient general medicine ward attending, providing consultative preoperative and perioperative recommendations to surgical specialties, and managing inpatient care when on call.
Beyond clinical duties, this position offers a meaningful chance to shape the next generation of physicians. You will participate in teaching activities for residents and interns, direct input into the Internal Medicine Training Program, and engage in continual quality improvement initiatives. The role requires active participation in departmental meetings, utilization management, and maintaining Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements.
