Summit Orthopedics serves the Twin Cities, Greater Minnesota, and Western Wisconsin with a full spectrum of orthopedic care, from sub-specialty clinics and walk-in urgent care to surgery and post-surgical stays. Our organization is built on a patient-first environment where over 1,200 employees—including physicians, surgeons, physician assistants, athletic trainers, and therapists—partner to support a healthier, more active lifestyle. We value compassion, integrity, excellence, collaboration, stewardship, and innovation, fostering a familial atmosphere where staff feel respected and find a strong sense of purpose.
This full-time Physician Assistant position is designed to float across various Summit teams and locations, providing essential support in clinics, Orthopedic Urgent Care centers, Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs), and hospitals. You may work across both east and west metro locations, offering a unique opportunity to train in a variety of settings and sub-specialties such as sports medicine, hand, foot and ankle, and spine. This rotational experience may pave the way for future transitions to a specific MD team, Orthopedic Urgent Care, or a Hospitalist role.
As a float provider, you will function as a first or second assist in the operating room, perform surgical exposures and closures, triage patient calls, and manage emergencies. Your day will involve conducting physical exams, interpreting images, ordering diagnostics, prescribing medications, and counseling patients on preventive and post-operative care. You will also manage simple fracture care, including cast application and removal, while ensuring continuity of care and monitoring therapies.
This is a full-time role with a Monday through Friday schedule, typically 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM (subject to change). The position requires flexibility to float based on the needs of physician teams (operative and non-operative) and Orthopedic Urgent Care locations. Coverage includes day shifts as well as participation in an evening and holiday rotation.
Candidates must be prepared to work in non-Summit locations where applicable. Providers working in these external settings may need to be fully vaccinated or have an approved medical or religious exemption prior to their start date, in adherence to the specific guidelines of each non-Summit location.
Summit Orthopedics is committed to providing equal opportunity to all employees and applicants for employment in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
