Beth Israel Lahey Health is a growing healthcare organization where more than 35,000 nurses, doctors, technicians, therapists, researchers, and teachers work together to make a difference in patients' lives. As part of this community, you join a team dedicated to caring for and protecting patients, colleagues, and the broader community.
As a Medical Assistant on the BILH team, you will perform a wide variety of clinical and administrative activities during patient visits, serving as a vital link between patients and medical staff. This role involves extensive interaction with diverse populations, requiring you to ensure patient comfort, dignity, and safety throughout their care journey.
Your day-to-day responsibilities include performing vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, and assisting with routine procedures. You will manage patient care areas by keeping them clean and organized, handling instrument disposal, and ensuring exam rooms are fully stocked. A significant part of your role involves direct patient support, such as assisting those with physical or psychological limitations with ambulation, transferring patients from wheelchairs to exam tables, and providing chaperone services when requested. Additionally, you will support the front desk by managing check-in and check-out processes, verifying demographics and insurance, and collecting co-pays using MediTech and CCC systems.
To join our team, candidates must hold a High School diploma or GED, with a Certified Medical Assistant program completion or an Associate degree preferred. One to three years of related work experience is required, along with a current CPR certification. While not mandatory, a Phlebotomy Certificate, experience with cast removal, and bilingual skills are highly valued.
We believe in a collaborative environment where team members act as leaders for small projects, fostering a respectful atmosphere that improves workflows. Our organization is committed to doing everything in its power to care for our patients and colleagues. As a condition of employment, all staff are required to be vaccinated against influenza.
Beth Israel Lahey Health is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled, welcoming applicants regardless of background.
