About the Role
This is a contract opportunity for a Phlebotomist based in Nashville, TN. The position is scheduled from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with a projected duration of three months.
The primary function of this role is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting issues, providing training, and making workflow recommendations. You will be responsible for collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures, ensuring the integrity of samples through proper labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing as required by test orders.
Day in the Life
In this fast-paced lab or hospital setting, you will demonstrate proficiency with straight and butterfly needles to perform venipunctures and other specimen collections. You will clearly and courteously explain the collection process to patients, match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, and verify all test requisitions against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
Your daily tasks include processing specimens, recording maintenance data, performing decontamination, and updating patient information. You will also answer telephone calls, read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries, and ensure compliance with OSHA and DEP regulations. Annual department trainings are required to maintain your skills and knowledge.
Hiring Process
Interested candidates must possess a valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, a High School Diploma or GED, and a minimum of two years of experience. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite is also required.
