This position serves as a vital link in the diagnostic care continuum, performing venipuncture and skin puncture procedures alongside essential pre-analytical and post-analytical laboratory steps. The role is designed to ensure the highest quality of patient care by accurately collecting specimens and preparing them for testing across a diverse patient population.
You will be responsible for selecting the appropriate phlebotomy technique based on the patient's age and physical maturation, whether performing venipuncture, finger sticks, or heel sticks. Beyond specimen collection, you will manage the pre-analytical phase of testing, including barcoding, centrifuging, separating, logging, culturing, and staining bacteriological specimens. The role also involves maintaining inventory levels of supplies and reagents, checking in patients, collecting revenue, and providing patients with necessary preparation instructions.
As a member of the team, you will uphold Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures while adhering to all applicable state, federal, and local laws. We value professionalism in both attitude and appearance, and we expect you to establish and maintain courteous, cooperative relations with the public, patients, and other personnel.
