Arming you with a nationally recognized, portable credential that will help you advance your career.
Whether you are new to working in pharmacies or are an experienced Pharmacy Technician, Walgreens will train you to use your skills and talents to serve and care for our patients and customers. The courses, learning activities, and resources provided to you in our pharmacy technician training program are designed to give you foundational and advanced knowledge, skills, and on-the-job experiences you need to prepare to become a certified pharmacy technician.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleAssist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision
- check_circleUse pharmacy systems to obtain patient information and process prescriptions
- check_circleCollect and label blood or urine samples for clinical services
- check_circleReport prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty
- check_circleVerify medicine correctness and check for possible drug interactions
- check_circleRegister sales on cash registers and handle cash transactions
- check_circleEngage customers by greeting them and resolving issues to ensure a positive experience
- check_circleProcess and resubmit manual claims for third-party prescription services
- check_circleAssist with inventory management including ordering, unpacking, and storing shipments
- check_circleRetrieve, count, and pour pharmaceutical drugs to fill prescriptions accurately
- check_circleHandle telephone calls to physicians and other non-clinical inquiries
- check_circleMaintain pharmacy department cleanliness and ensure adequate supply levels
Requirements
- verifiedMust be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English
- verifiedWillingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours
Nice to Have
Six months of experience in a retail environment. Prior work experience with Walgreens. Good math skills for filling prescriptions accurately (counting, measuring, weighing). Good computer skills. Knowledge of store inventory control. PTCB certification.
