DMC Children's Hospital of Michigan is an international leader in pediatric and adolescent medicine, dedicated to providing exceptional patient care in a supportive and collaborative environment. As part of Tenet Healthcare, our facility serves thousands of children annually across the main hospital, the Troy location, and six ambulatory sites. We offer advanced surgical services, including general, thoracic, reconstructive, and cardiovascular procedures, alongside specialized imaging technology designed specifically for children, such as PET and MRI. Our Emergency Department is a verified Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and a dedicated pediatric burn center, supported by experts in critical care, rehabilitation, and neonatal medicine.
In this position, you will join a healthcare community committed to making a positive impact on the lives of our patients. Under limited supervision, you will provide comprehensive clinical pharmacy services, including primary care, consultative support, and drug information to both patients and healthcare providers. Your day will involve reviewing prescriptions for safety and appropriateness, dispensing or compounding medications according to established procedures, and conducting patient interviews to gather medication histories and provide counseling on current drug therapies.
You will play a key role in patient education, identifying those who require teaching and providing necessary materials. Additionally, you will collaborate with other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated patient education and supervise the work of support personnel, including technicians, residents, interns, clerks, and students. This includes training staff in medication preparation, ensuring the accuracy of their work, and maintaining inventory and records for medications and pharmacy supplies. You will also conduct inspections to ensure proper drug availability, storage, and dating in compliance with environmental and regulatory standards.
Your clinical contributions will extend to various specialized areas, including therapeutic drug monitoring, anti-coagulation services, nutritional support, investigational drug services, hematology/oncology pharmacy, medication use evaluation, pain management, and adverse drug reaction reporting. By adhering to system, hospital, and departmental policies, you will help deliver quality care through compassionate service.
