People Encouraging People offers quality mobile behavioral health services to individuals with serious and persistent mental health and substance abuse disorders. We continuously strive to provide these services with integrity, honesty, and respect.
We are seeking a Peer Counselor to join our Assertive Community Treatment Team. In order to continue our mission of quality care, this role is designed to provide expertise that professional training alone cannot replicate. The successful candidate will leverage personal life experiences with mental illness, substance abuse, or homelessness to support others.
As a full member of the team, you will provide highly individualized services in the community, promoting self-determination and decision-making for our clients. Your day will involve providing outreach services, coordinating health services between the agency, community, and home settings, and offering substance abuse education and crisis intervention under the supervision of the Program Manager. You will also extend support to families and other identified support systems.
We value a team player who is currently stable and ready to use their own experiences to help others. While previous work experience is great, it is not necessary; we are committed to training the right candidate. Basic computer and phone skills are required, and the ability to drive with a good record is essential as the role involves varying shifts, including some weekends during winter months and special events.
Speaking Spanish is a plus but not required. We encourage candidates to pursue Peer Specialist training or certification, though it is not a barrier to entry if you are willing to obtain one within an agreed timeframe.
We are dedicated to a culture of integrity, honesty, and respect. We believe in the power of lived experience to heal and empower, fostering an environment where individuals can thrive while supporting their peers.
