Boston Children's Hospital is dedicated to providing infants, children, adolescents, and young adults with comprehensive nutrition assessments—an essential component of individualized care plans for a wide range of conditions. This per diem Pediatric Registered Dietitian role serves as a vital part of the inpatient care team, evaluating medical, biochemical, and nutritional information to assess patient needs and develop appropriate nutrition care plans. The position also involves assisting in the supervision of the daily work of the dietetic technician.
This is a per diem position scheduled on an as-needed basis. Preferred candidates will have availability to work approximately 2–3 shifts per week to support departmental coverage needs. The role participates in a weekend rotation, typically averaging 6–8 weekends per year, though weekend requirements may vary based on staffing needs and operational demands.
New hires undergo a training period of approximately 3 months, with duration individualized based on learning needs and progression. During this training phase, candidates are ideally available 5 days per week to support timely onboarding and skill development. At minimum, 3 days per week of availability is required during the training period to ensure successful orientation and transition to independent practice.
