The Division of Hematology/Oncology and BMT at Phoenix Children's is dedicated to providing hope, healing, and the best health care for children and their families. As the only freestanding Children's Hospital in Arizona, we serve as a comprehensive tertiary and quaternary care center. Our facility features a designated wing with 16 HEPA-filtered, positive pressure rooms specifically designed for immune-deficient patients.
We are a primary pediatric teaching facility with strong academic partnerships with the University of Arizona College of Medicine, Creighton University, and the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine. Our Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD) sees an average of 400 new oncology patients annually, including over 140 with hematologic malignancies. The CCBD is an active member of national and international trial consortia such as COG, POETIC, TACL, the Histiocyte Society, and NACHO, offering phase I and II industry-sponsored studies and investigator-initiated trials.
Our ACGME-approved pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship program trains three fellows per year, with additional affiliations for the BMT & Cell Therapy subspecialty fellowship. We maintain a close working relationship with our BMT program, which provides life-saving hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies, including CAR-T cell treatment.
