The Pediatric Immunology and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant/Cellular Therapy Program is a growing hub of excellence, currently comprising over 25 pediatric oncologists, 4 pediatric BMT attendings, and 3 PhD investigators. The division houses the only pediatric BMT service in the Intermountain West, performing over 50 transplants annually, and maintains an active CAR T cell program.
This program serves as a vital resource for the region, offering comprehensive medical, pathology, radiologic, and surgical subspecialties at Primary Children's Hospital (PCH) and its companion campus in Lehi, Utah. The division is deeply integrated with the Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) and benefits from the University of Utah's strong genetics and bioinformatics programs, fostering successful collaborations between clinical and basic investigators.
We are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Pediatric Immunologist to join our collegial team. In this role, you will provide clinical consultation and ongoing care for a large, growing immunology program while participating in clinical and/or basic research focused on inborn errors of immunity. You will serve as the Immunology liaison to the Primary Immune Deficiency Treatment Consortium (PIDTC) and manage the newborn screening programs for severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) for Utah and surrounding states.
The position offers the opportunity to implement early-phase and investigator-initiated clinical trials, collaborating with established immunology and cell therapy programs. Active research areas include novel immune and cellular therapies, gene therapy, studies of rare immunodeficiencies, and alternative and reduced toxicity stem cell transplants. Applicants with active basic science research programs will be provided with appropriate lab facilities and start-up support. Additionally, there is an opportunity to engage with the Immunity, Inflammation and Infectious Diseases Initiative to foster cross-disciplinary collaborations.
Beyond clinical service and research, the role includes expectations for academic work, including education, administration, and advocacy. The Department offers a faculty development and mentoring program designed to support success in translational or basic research, quality improvement, and educational excellence.
