PCB Designer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electronic CAD Designer to join our engineering team for a 12+ month contract. In this hybrid role based in Reston, VA, you will partner with electrical and packaging engineers to design moderate to highly complex Printed Wiring Boards (PWBs). You will be instrumental in developing layouts for new or modified high-density boards, translating schematic inputs into detailed, manufacturable designs.

Your day-to-day involves collaborating with senior technical staff to define fabrication criteria and resolve design issues. You will navigate a dynamic environment where you must interpret complex design requirements, manage constraint editing, and drive layout projects from initiation to completion. This position requires a high degree of autonomy, with moderate to minimal oversight, as you communicate project status and technical challenges to both management and the broader project team.

Work Environment & Requirements

This is a hybrid position requiring local presence in Massachusetts or Reston, Virginia. The schedule is 40 hours weekly on an 8/90 compressed work week.

Eligibility Note: Candidates must be US Citizens. While no active security clearance is required for this specific role, a past security clearance (active or within the last year) is highly desired.

Tools & Standards

You will utilize industry-standard tools including Siemens (Mentor) Xpedition Enterprise, AutoCAD, Downstream CAM350, and SolidWorks. Success in this role depends on a working knowledge of industry standards such as IPC-7351, JEDEC-JP95, and MIL-STD-1835, alongside proficiency in implementing advanced design techniques like differential pairs, length matching, impedance control, and blind/buried vias.
