As a Patient Transporter, you will function under the direction of the Manager of Patient Transport and Visitor Services. Your primary mission is to provide prompt, courteous, and professional customer service while ensuring the safe transport of patients, specimens, and equipment throughout the facility.
In this part-time, evening shift role (16 hours), you will collaborate closely with nursing staff, ancillary departments, and other team members. Your day involves transporting patients between departments such as radiology, the emergency department, and medical-surgical units using wheelchairs, stretchers, and beds. You will also monitor patient comfort, oxygen, and IV lines during transit, assist with patient transfers using specialized equipment, and handle the transport of lab specimens and medical records.
Beyond physical transport, you serve as a key communication link, accurately informing departments of patient movements and providing emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families. You will also assist with dispatch services, answering phones and prioritizing the needs of the nursing department when covering the dispatcher role.
