San Francisco Community Health Center (SFCHC), formerly known as API Wellness Clinic, is a federally qualified health center (FQHC) dedicated to providing culturally competent, high-quality medical care, health services, education, and outreach. Founded in 1987 as an all-volunteer, community-based response to the AIDS crisis in communities of color, SFCHC serves as an anchor organization for San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood while leading regional, statewide, and national programming.
Our mission is to transform lives by advancing health, wellness, and equality. We strengthen the well-being of under-served communities of all races, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, and immigration statuses, leading them toward justice and health. We believe that everyone deserves to be healthy and needs access to the highest quality health care.
The Patient Service Associate (PSA) serves as the first point of contact at our primary care clinic, welcoming and greeting patients with empathy and integrity. This role is critical to the financial stability and operational efficiency of our clinic business operations. By ensuring accurate information is collected during registration, you directly impact proper billing, claims processing, and patient safety.
In this position, you will streamline the registration process to reduce wait times, increase patient satisfaction, and build trust in SFCHC as a primary care home. You will work collaboratively with eligibility, Enhanced Care Management (ECM), and clinic support staff to serve vulnerable populations, including LGBTQ communities, refugees, immigrants, people experiencing homelessness, and those with complex medical needs. Your work ensures that payments are accurately processed through Medicare, Medi-Cal, managed care systems, and our Sliding Fee Discount Program.
Reporting to the Revenue Cycle Manager under the daily supervision of the Health Eligibility and Access Supervisor, you will be the face of our clinic, embodying our core values of dignity, respect, and a justice-oriented mindset.
