As a member of the dialysis health care team, you will play a vital role in providing safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. This position is designed to support the organization's commitment to the Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities, ensuring that patients achieve their health goals while maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
You will be responsible for the setup and operation of hemodialysis machines, assisting in patient education regarding disease processes and treatment adequacy, and monitoring patient responses to therapy. Your day-to-day work involves a blend of clinical support, machine maintenance, and patient interaction, all while adhering to strict organizational policies and federal, state, and corporate regulations.
In the Transitional Care Unit, you will guide newly admitted patients through their first four weeks of dialysis, coordinating care across disciplines and assisting with the transition to home dialysis modalities. This role requires a strong commitment to infection control, accurate record-keeping, and fostering a supportive environment for both patients and staff.
This position operates within a health care facility characterized by air temperature control and moderate noise levels. The role involves direct patient care, which may include heavy lifting, moving patients, and assisting with ambulation. Equipment aids and coworkers are available to assist with heavier tasks.
The work requires frequent and prolonged periods of standing, bending, and the ability to push or pull equipment. Employees may be required to lift and lower solutions weighing up to 30 lbs. frequently, and up to 40 lbs. occasionally, reaching heights of up to 5 feet. The environment may expose employees to infectious and contagious diseases or materials.
Day-to-day duties include desk and computer work, interaction with patients, facility staff, and physicians. The position may require travel between assigned facilities, community locations, and regional or corporate meetings. As a condition of employment, candidates must take the Ishihara's Color Blindness test; however, failing this test does not automatically preclude employment, as the company will consider reasonable accommodations.
